- KAJUKENBO was developed by the BLACK BELT SOCIETY in 1947 at the PALAMA SETTLEMENT in Oahu, Hawaii.

 

- KAJUKENBO was formed between 1947-1949 when Prof. Emperado and five other black belts got together in post World War 2 Hawaii and worked to develop a superior martial arts style. They trained in secrecy and from their efforts KAJUKENBO was formed. The style can be broken down in this way:

- The three KAJUKENBO colors are: Red, Black & White. These represent the basic colors of promotion.

- The five original KAJUKENBO colors were: Red, Black, White, Gold & Green. Each one meant to represent the five founders.

- The five self-defense striking points are: eye, throat, sternum, groin & knee.

- The rank progression in KAJUKENBO is as follows: white, yellow, orange, purple, blue, green, brown, black.
